Introduction
This article explains how to configure user-related fields, such as first name, last name, and username, within a layout in VertiGIS Studio Desktop (ArcGIS Pro) and the VertiGIS Studio Printing Designer. By setting up these fields correctly, you can dynamically include user information in your printed outputs.
Please note that for users who have two or more names in either the first name or last name fields (e.g. Pieter van de Linde), the username will be displayed instead. This is a known limitation. A corresponding User Story to address this has been logged under ID 341728. |
How to add user-specific fields in VertiGIS Studio Desktop
Open your layout in ArcGIS Pro
Navigate to Insert → Studio Layout Editor → Function Field
Choose the desired fields (Creator, First Name and/or Last Name)
Insert the field to the desired location in the layout
Adding these function fields to the ArcGIS Pro layout will result in the addition of two text fields (one for the caption and one for the value). If you don't want the caption field, it can be removed.
How to add user-specific fields in VertiGIS Studio Printing Designer
Open your layout in the VertiGIS Studio Printing Designer
Open the Parameters List
-
Add the following parameters for the first and last name:
First Name: Description: {user_given_name_value} | Value: <user_given_name_value>
Last Name: Description: {user_sur_name_value} | Value: <user_sur_name_value>
For the username you can add a 'Page Info' element from the Control Bar and change the 'Page Information' setting to User Name.
These fields will then be automatically populated in VertiGIS Studio Web.
