Introduction
With recent changes to VertiGIS Studio Printing, scripting is no longer supported for dynamically formatting dates and times in layouts. As a result, all dynamic date and time configurations must now be done directly in ArcGIS Pro using Esri dynamic text tags.
This article explains how to configure these formats using dynamic text tags in ArcGIS Pro and refers to the Esri documentation for examples.
| Please note that date and time formats are based on the local system settings of the machine on which the VertiGIS Studio Printing Engine is running. In the case of the SaaS Printing Engine, this behavior cannot be changed, as the timezone is determined by the hosting environment and is always set to UTC. This represents a current technical limitation. However, the development team is aware of this constraint and is evaluating possible options to provide more flexibility in the future. |
How to add a dynamic date or time in ArcGIS Pro
Open your layout in ArcGIS Pro
Navigate to Insert → Graphics and Text → New Dynamic Text
Choose System - Current Time
Drag the text box to the desired location in the layout
How to configure the date or time format
In the Element pane click on 'Show plain text'. The following text appears:
Current Time: <dyn type="date" format=""/> <dyn type="time" format=""/>You can now customize the text and format as required. For example, if only the date should be displayed, the time portion can be removed.
It is also possible to configure dynamic date and/or time formats directly in the VertiGIS Studio Printing Designer in a label text field.
