Introduction
With Printing (based on ArcGIS Pro), grids (basic graticules, measured grids, MGRS grids, reference grids or a custom grid) are no longer configured in the Studio Web Designer because the ArcGIS Maps SDK for JavaScript does not support grid definitions. Instead, the desired graticule can be defined directly in the ArcGIS Pro Layout, using ArcGIS Pro.
Step-by-step: Add a grid to a printing layout in ArcGIS Pro
- Open the ArcGIS Pro Layout (.pagx)
- Launch ArcGIS Pro and load the layout.
- Launch ArcGIS Pro and load the layout.
- Prepare the Map Frame to accept a grid
- Create a temporary map in the ArcGIS Pro project. ArcGIS Pro requires a map to be assigned to a Map Frame in a layout before a grid can be added.
- Assign this temporary map to the WEBMAP_MAP_FRAME (Elements > Options > Map Frame > Map).
- Add and configure the grid
- Go to the 'Insert' tab. Under 'Map Frames', the 'Grid' option is offered.
- Choose the desired grid type:
- Graticule
- Measured Grid
- Reference Grid
- MGRS Grid
- Custom Grid
- Configure the grid properties (intervals, labels, ticks, line styles, annotation formats) in the Grid Properties pane until the layout matches your requirements.
- Important: Remove the temporary Map before publishing
- After finishing the grid configuration, open the Properties of the WEBMAP_MAP_FRAME.
- Set the map back to <None>.
- Save the ArcGIS Pro Layout & publish
- Save the ArcGIS Pro Layout.
- When use VertiGIS Studio Desktop, ArcGIS Pro layouts can be published directly to the portal or ArcGIS Online (AGOL) using the Studio Layout Manager.
- When using VertiGIS Studio Desktop is not an option, the ArcGIS Pro Layout can be imported in the VertiGIS Studio Printing Designer.
