Due to a known issue in Essentials, updating from version 4.13.3 or earlier to version 4.15 or later will throw an error when you attempt to update your HTML 5 Viewers in Essentials Manager. In order to avoid this, we suggest the following workaround:
- Click Here to download and and run the update to 4.14.x including deploying the 4.14 viewer template in the post installer
- Open Essentials Manger and follow the prompts to update the viewers for your sites to 4.14.x
- Then proceed to download and run the installer for the version of Essentials that you would like to update to and follow the usual update procedure found here: Upgrade Essentials
If you've already attempted to update to 4.15+ from a version older than 4.14, and are now seeing errors on attempting to update or edit your viewers, here is an alternative workaround:
- Click Here to download and unzip the 4.14 installer, and unzip the 4.14 viewer template
- Launch the Essentials post installer
- Click through post installer to 'configure viewer template'
- Click add - select 4.14 vte file and follow instructions to deploy management pack, rename virtual directory from default to a temporary name, and continue
- There should now be two templates listed - the temporary one, and your previous template - if so, complete the post installer
- Open Essentials Manager, open each site for editing, edit viewer and follow prompts to update to 4.14 for all sites in your Essentials instance
- On your Essentials server, open IIS,
- in the right-hand panel locate the temporary 4.14 viewer, right-click on it and select "remove". It should now change from a deployed site icon to a folder icon
- open the file explorer, navigate to C:\inetpub\wwwroot, and delete the folder that was created for your temporary 4.14 viewer
- Relaunch Essentials Manager, open site for editing, open viewer for editing, follow prompts to update viewer
