Question:
From time to time node licenses are provided or requested but server licenses are required. How can both be distinguished?
Answer:
Node licenses always contain a "uncounted" and "HOSTID=".
Examples:
- Node license on disk ID (via lmtools):
- FEATURE 100017 AEDSICAD 8.300 14-apr-2006 uncounted VENDOR_STRING=UT-Intern HOSTID=DISK_SERIAL_NUM=38be2902 ck=158 SIGN=916FDFFA612E
- Node license on MAC address of the network card (find out via ipconfig /all)
- FEATURE 100016 AEDSICAD 8.300 16-feb-2006 uncounted VENDOR_STRING=UT-Test HOSTID=000475d884a3 ck=184 SIGN=F316CBC2AC7C
- Node license on normal dongle:
- FEATURE 100003 AEDSICAD 8.300 28-sep-2005 uncounted VENDOR_STRING=UT-View HOSTID=FLEXID=8-5E7000C26816 ck=173 SIGN=EDEDE6B8DF64
- Node license on USB dongle:
- FEATURE 100003 AEDSICAD 8.300 28-sep-2005 uncounted VENDOR_STRING=UT-View HOSTID=FLEXID=9-1F8AD892 ck=146 SIGN=A66ED002F7EE
(Remember: Always deactivate/delete the Server + Damon line at node licenses.)
Server licenses
- Never: 'uncounted' – always a number of licenses
- Never: HOSTID= (the hostid always only in the first line)
Example:
SERVER PCUTW2K 0001022109F8 1701
DAEMON AEDSICAD c:\flexlm
FEATURE 100016 AEDSICAD 8.300 31-dec-2005 60 VENDOR_STRING=UT-Test ck=172 SIGN=FCF16544D498
