With the release of VertiGIS Studio Printing 5.23.0 a new on-premise VertiGIS Studio Printing Engine (VSPE) has been introduced. The new printing engine uses Esri print layouts and a geoprocessing service installed on your on-premise ArcGIS Enterprise to produce vector based print outputs. It also supports newer Esri basemap and layer formats, and is generally faster when printing compared to previous template based prints.
Further information about VSPE and how you can install it is available at: Printing Help - VertiGIS Studio Printing Engine
Guide:
Once the new printing engine has been successfully installed, it can be added to Studio Web by following the steps below:
- Open your Studio Web app in the VSW Designer and go to Services > Printing Service as shown below:
- Add the URL from the VertiGIS_Printing_Tools geoprocessing service (e.g. "https://<Machinename>.<Domain>/arcgis/rest/services/VertiGIS_Utilities/VertiGIS_Printing_Tools/GPServer") to the Print Service URL box:

Note: You can copy the URL from the item details page for the VertiGIS_Printing_Tools GP service in your Portal:

The Printing component in your Designer will now display the option for ArcGIS Pro Layouts. Available layouts can now be added from your Enterprise environment.
Note: It is currently only possible to publish the printing engine to ArcGIS Enterprise.
You can add your ArcGIS Pro layouts by either converting your existing templates, creating new layouts, or importing layouts designed in ArcGIS Pro using the VSP Designer.
Enable ArcGIS Pro Layout Mode to enable the creation or importing of layouts, and see this article for how to convert templates.
