We're thrilled to announce the release of VertiGIS Networks Editor, Explorer and Simulator 1.19! This version introduces the 2 new features Station Entry and Point Rotation; and significant enhancements in Subnetwork Management, Annotations, Editing, Job Management and Dimensions.
Station Entry
This release introduces a completely new Station Entry panel that simplifies the process of routing bundles of network lines into stations. Users can now automatically control the entry of multiple lines into a station, significantly reducing manual editing effort.
The workflow supports parallel station entry for split and shorten use cases. Required connection points can be created automatically at the edge of the station. A configurable gap size option provides maximum flexibility for organization-specific workflows.
Point Rotation
A new Point Rotation tool provides enhanced control over the orientation of point features. Users can rotate point symbols directly based on their symbol rotation field, helping ensure that the cartographic representation accurately reflects asset orientation.
Additional options allow rotation fixed for 45°, 90° and 180° increments as well as alignment perpendicular or orthogonal to existing features. These capabilities improve both editing efficiency and map presentation quality.
Subnetwork Management
VertiGIS Networks 1.19 introduces comprehensive support for Subnetwork administration directly within the application. Users can now modify subnetwork controllers, which implicitly allows to create new subnetworks, modify or disable existing controllers and, evetually, delete a subnetwork by disabling all defining controllers. These capabilities simplify Utility Network administration and provide greater control over network management processes.
Annotations
Several enhancements have been made to annotation workflows. Block annotations can now be deleted in batch operations, reducing the effort required for large-scale maintenance tasks.
When creating block annotations, users can now choose the target annotation class directly during the creation process and remove individual features from the creation list before finalizing the operation. Furthermore, annotations can now be automatically aligned along polygon edges, resulting in cleaner and more consistent map output.
Create Features
Feature creation workflows have been significantly streamlined. It is possible to activate a new option to create features in a loop. This starts the next creation process immediately after a feature has been created until another template is selected or the user stops the action, enabling faster digitizing operations.
Users can also choose to store attribute values from an existing or previously created feature and use these attributes as default values for the next created feature. Therefore, two new icons are available on the Attribute Mask to temporarily save the values of a feature as template; and to remove the template values from the cache. With this it is possible to re-use the same set of attributes for several features in a row. This mode can be combined with the creation in loop to significantly improve the creation of features.
Dimensions
Dimension editing has received several major enhancements. Users can now copy dimension features to a different dimension layer, simplifying maintenance and documentation workflows between the different domains.
The application now also supports the display of linear dimensions.
Additionally, several Display Options have been introduced to showing or hiding texts, symbols and dimension lines for all types of dimensions, in case of orthogonal dimensions individually for Abscissa and Ordinate.
As further improvement, ordinate dimension texts can now also be displayed orthogonally, resulting in improved readability and cartographic presentation.
Trench management
The trench creation workflow has been enhanced with support for creating bounding structures during multi-line creation. Next to lines, users can now select areas to e.g. indicate a protective tube area directly while creating the trench.
Predefined gap sizes can now be configured globally across the application. This enables organizations to standardize multi-line representations as well as trenches and maintain consistent visual quality.
Job Management (Early Access)
Job Management has now progressed from Preview status to Early Access, marking an important milestone in the module's maturity.
Organizations can fully register and maintain Job Groups as Portal Groups. Conflict resolution workflows have been enhanced through new All to Default and All to Branch options, allowing efficient bulk conflict handling.
Worker privileges can now be configured directly within the App Designer, providing more flexibility for administrative workflows. A new pagination view improves performance and usability when managing large numbers of jobs. In addition, Supervisors and Administrators are now able to create jobs directly. Numerous stabilization improvements, bug fixes and user interface enhancements further improve the overall experience.
Copy & Paste
Copy & Paste workflows now fully respect Utility Network snapping rules for the anchor point of the copy selection. This ensures that copied features can be positioned accurately while maintaining network connectivity and data integrity requirements.
Relationships
Relationship management has been improved through the introduction of a new Set Active option for related features, allowing users to quickly switch context between associated assets. System relationships such as documents and annotations can now be filtered out, helping users focus on the relevant relationships for their workflow.
Result List
Bulk Attribute Form Editing is now available directly within the Editor result list. Users can efficiently update multiple features simultaneously, e.g. to change the lifecycle status, which significantly improves the productivity of mass-editing operations.
Other News
All Networks Solutions are now available in Danish.
This release version is fully compatible with VertiGIS Studio Web 5.43 which, i.a., introduces a new Attribute Table view; and includes support for Attribute Form 1.13 which comes with a new coded value abbreviation option and advanced options for catalogs.
VertiGIS Networks 1.19 is compatible with the latest version of DXF Export, which introduces several bugfixes and general improvements.
