Problem:
When I save an MXD in UT Editor, the map view layers are removed and the MXD is saved without layers. But I need an MXD with the layers for a use in ArcGIS Server, WMPS or for performance analysis with MXDPerfStat.
Note: Also when sharing as a map package or map service, the MXD is implicitly stored. |
Cause:
In ArcMap, the layers of a map view are stored in the MXD by default. However, in UT Editor the map views are loaded from the database. Layers in the MXD file would delay the startup process, because first the layers are read from the MXD file, but then they are overwritten by the map view from the database. In the MXD file (normally) only the map section and the toolbars should be saved and not the layer structures.
Solution:
By holding the SHIFT key while calling the save function, the removal of the layers is suppressed.
