VertiGIS Webinar: Transitioning from Geocortex Essentials to VertiGIS Studio (42-minute view)
- VertiGIS presented its transition from Geocortex Essentials to VertiGIS Studio, highlighting that Studio now delivers about 95% functional equivalence while adding major new capabilities such as web-based designers, 3D support, flexible layouts, SaaS deployment, dashboards, mobile apps, and improved performance. The shift is encouraged due to Esri’s ArcGIS JavaScript API 3.x retirement. VertiGIS offers migration tools, including exporting Essentials sites to ArcGIS web maps, plus training, professional services, and managed services to help organizations modernize their GIS applications.
- Transition Playbook: Considerations when moving from GCX to VS (30-minute read)
- VertiGIS recommends transitioning from Geocortex Essentials to VertiGIS Studio due to the retirement of Esri’s ArcGIS JavaScript API 3.x and the risks of future compatibility issues. The playbook outlines a three-phase approach: plan, act, and review. Organizations should inventory existing apps, workflows, and templates, assess future needs, learn Studio capabilities, and explore SaaS options. VertiGIS Studio offers modern, configurable, accessible applications with minimal custom code, streamlined deployment, and enhanced tools such as Workflow, Reporting, Printing, Analytics, and Search.

Export a Geocortex Essentials viewer as a web map for use in VertiGIS Studio (10-minutes read)
- VertiGIS Studio Web uses Esri web maps to define app content and behavior. Existing Geocortex Essentials map configurations can be migrated using the Export Web Map tool, which publishes a compatible web map to ArcGIS Online or Portal for ArcGIS. Configure ArcGIS sign-in, run the export tool, and use the new web map in Web or Mobile apps. Only Esri web map–compatible settings are exported; items like Data Links are excluded. Ensure proper permissions and remove unsupported command hyperlinks if export issues occur.
