Identify Features by Buffering the Current Selection and Allow Users to Define the Buffer Distance and Units

The out-of-the-box Buffer Results tool in VertiGIS Studio Web automatically adds a buffer around the selected feature(s) with a predefined buffer distance and units. The default buffer distance and units can be set in the Geometry service of Web Designer, and for situations where the user might want to set their own buffer distance and units, the Show Buffer Settings tool can be added to a menu in the app.

However, in some cases, requiring users to enter the desired buffer distance and units into the Geometry Settings before they use the Buffer Results tool may not make the most sense. In these situations, a workflow can be used instead.

An example workflow is attached, which demonstrates how you might design a tool that lets the user set the buffer distance and units in real time. You can take a look at it by downloading the .zip file, extracting it, and using File > Import in Workflow Designer to upload the .json file. To function properly, the workflow should be added to a Result Actions menu in the VertiGIS Studio Web app so it can get the selected features from the feature context.

This workflow was created in version 5.44.1 of VertiGIS Studio Workflow, was tested in version 5.34.2 of VertiGIS Studio Web, and is for demonstration purposes.
