Updating VMware Tools to version 12.5.0 may cause issues with SOEs in ArcGIS Server. Despite the ArcGIS Server seemingly running without errors, the ArcGIS Server log shows that the map services are constantly crashing and restarting. Debugging the ArcGIS Server Crash Dump indicates a problem with vm3dgl64.dll.
VertiGIS has detected the misbehavior with various SOEs, including the UtilityServer SOE of the UT ServerSuite.
The previous solution was to downgrade to version 12.4 or to reset the VMware image with ArcGIS Server to an earlier state.
In the meantime, the problem has been solved by newer updates of the VMware tools.
