Which permissions are necessary to run the VSP Engine Tools installer?

For execution of the MSI installer you will need to provide the credentials of an administrative Windows user. The post installer process however runs with the currently signed-in Windows user per default. A valid ESRI Product license must be available for this user.

During the post installation you may be challenged for credentials in case you are using an ArcGIS Built-in user when connecting to your Portal. If your ArcGIS Enterprise is using ArcGIS user accounts created from your organization's Windows Users (eg. Azure, Active Directory), you might already be authenticated with the Portal and not be prompted for further credentials. The associated ArcGIS user account must have an Advanced or Creator user type, otherwise the installation of the VSP Engine Tools as GP Tools fails.
