Having an out of the box AddLayerCatalog tied to my content, or organization content from internal Portal would be huge.

  100% - we will build you a layer catalog feature as soon as we can. I like that you've called out that this could/should be tied to Esri portal content in some way, we've been thinking along similar lines in our thinking to date.

  It would also be beneficial to allow filters to take place. IE data shared within specific groups, app catalogs in portal, or even content marked as authoritative.
