VertiGIS Studio represents our new WebGIS generation, which combines the strengths of WebOffice and Geocortex Essentials. For you, the new architecture of VertiGIS Studio provides many advantages in the long run, such as an even higher performance and scalability. What the introduction of VertiGIS Studio means for you as a WebOffice customer and what will happen with WebOffice in the future is summarized in this article.
Important features of VertiGIS Studio
VertiGIS Studio is, like WebOffice, a configurable standard product consisting of different capabilities and frameworks. More detailed information about the products can be found on the VertiGIS Studio website.
VertiGIS Studio can be used as an "engine" for our vertical products (e.g., VertiGIS Networks) or independently of other VertiGIS products. The functional capabilities and frameworks can be combined with each other as well as integrated into other applications and can be extended programmatically if needed. We offer the options of self-installation (on premises) or hosting in the cloud.
The new architecture of VertiGIS Studio brings many advantages in the long term, such as further increased performance and scalability, ease of use and state-of-the-art accessibility (WCAG 2.0 compliant).
Why a new product?
Our goal in introducing VertiGIS Studio is to combine the strengths of WebOffice and Geocortex Essentials and to harmonize the VertiGIS product portfolio. In doing so, we focus on a new technical design that meets current and future market requirements.
For our customers, VertiGIS Studio brings numerous other advantages in addition to the new technical design - here is a small excerpt:
- Easy installation and operation - no additional installations through administration in the browser
- Layouts instead of clients for more flexibility
-
Compatibility with new Esri technology and licensing
VertiGIS Studio Roadmap
The currently available version of VertiGIS Studio does not yet offer functional parity compared to WebOffice. Therefore, the optimal time for a migration will vary from customer to customer. The following points serve as assistance:
- The functional scope of VertiGIS Studio is consistently developed further in the sense of our customers and successively supplemented with innovative additional functions.
- Your previous tasks in WebOffice will also be covered in VertiGIS Studio in the future.
- Parallel operation of both systems will be possible for a certain period of time (e.g., for pure information retrieval).
- VertiGIS Studio Mobile can be deployed independently of other VertiGIS Studio components.
What's next for WebOffice?
WebOffice will still be maintained to enable all customers a solid upgrade planning and implementation. Detailed data and information regarding available versions and maintenance can be found in our WebOffice Deprecation Notes.
The functionality of VertiGIS Studio compared to WebOffice is presented in a table, in order to clarify when a migration is possible.
Under WebOffice Ideas a new category "Implemented in VertiGIS Studio" will be introduced in our customer portal. This way it is possible to track which desired functionality has already found its way into VertiGIS Studio.
Interested in VertiGIS Studio?
All WebOffice customers will be offered a VertiGIS Studio bundle that will ensure the transition from the existing WebOffice licensing to the new VertiGIS Studio licensing. If you are already interested in a migration or would like to know more about VertiGIS Studio licensing for WebOffice customers or Esri licensing, please contact your Account Manager.
