Problem:
- The UT Database Schema Tool crashes when selecting a database connection.
- An error is logged in the Windows Event Viewer (Event Viewer (Local) - Windows Logs - Application) regarding the faulty application ArcCatalog.exe in the faulty module ntdll.dll.
Cause:
The cause could never be determined. It is only certain that it worked without problems in earlier operating system versions.
Since not all databases are affected, we suspect that one or more tables are causing issues. However, neither the triggering tables nor the problematic properties of the tables could be identified.
Solution:
The compatibility mode for ArcCatalog has so far resolved the issue.
Set the Windows compatibility mode as follows:
- Navigate to ArcCatalog.exe.
This is located in the installation path (default:C:\Program Files (x86)\ArcGis\Desktop10.x) under\bin. - Open the properties of ArcCatalog.exe via the context menu (right-click).
- In the
Compatibilitytab, checkRun this program in compatibility mode forand set it toWindows 8.
This sets the compatibility mode on the computer for you as the user.
If the compatibility mode should be set for additional users, you must proceed in the same way for each respective user. Alternatively, you can use the corresponding button Change settings for all users; administrative rights are required for this.
