Question:
When opening the Data Quality Manager in the UT Editor, no rules are loaded initially. You have to add them manually first. Since the same rules are to be used repeatedly, it would be advantageous if they were loaded automatically. Is this possible?
Answer:
Yes, it is possible.
Step 1: Configuration in the Data Quality Manager
In the Data Quality Manager, go to the "Settings" tab. There you activate the option "Load rules from the following directories".
Then use the "Add directory" button to add an entry to the subsequent list of directories. Specify a directory in the file system in which the rules to be loaded will be stored in the following step.
Tipp: It is also possible to specify multiple directories. All directories will be included in the search. |
This configuration is stored in preference files. By distributing appropriate preference files, this can be preset company-wide for all users. The following settings are affected:
- ArcFM_UT / DQM / InitRuleSets
- ArcFM_UT / DQM / RuleSetFolder
Step 2: Definition of the rules to be loaded
First, add the relevant rules in the "Rules" tab in Data Quality Manager. Then save them in the directory specified in the previous step using the "Save rule set" button. A rule set file (*.dqmrs) is created.
Tipp: When loading rules from an assembly, for example from AedSicad.UT.Dqm.Rules.dll, all rules are always loaded. When saving, all loaded rules are always saved. It is not evaluated which ones are checked. If necessary, rules that are not required must be removed before saving. |
Tipp: Each rule has different rule properties. These are also saved in the rule set file. For some rules, it may be useful to save the corresponding settings of the rule properties as well. |
Tipp: It is also possible to place multiple rule set files, assemblies with DQM rule implementations or rule script files in the directory. |
Note: The version number of the referenced assemblies is stored in the rule set file. After updating the version of UT for ArcGIS or the rules implemented in assembly packages, the rule set file has to be created again or the content has to be adapted accordingly. In most cases, updating the version number via a text editor is sufficient. |
