ACTION REQUIRED: ArcGIS Online TLS 1.2 requirements
Hi Everyone,
Esri has announced an update to the date that TLS 1.2 will be required by ArcGIS Online. On April 16, 2019, ArcGIS Online services will only accept SSL connections made using TLS 1.2.
If you use ArcGIS Online to sign in to a Geocortex product installed on your server, this change could affect you. It could also affect you if you consume ArcGIS Online services in your Geocortex products.
If you use the SaaS versions of a Geocortex product then you can disregard this update. No changes are required.
If you've already confirmed your server can consume TLS 1.2 services, no further action is required.
We've published an article describing what you can do to make sure your server is ready for TLS 1.2, here: https://support.vertigis.com/hc/en-us/articles/11461109620754-Connecting-to-external-services-with-TLS-1-2
This article will be updated over time as we discover new information or receive user feedback.

-Malcolm

hi Malcolm, we have Essential and Essential Manager on different server. Could you please advise if we need change the register on just the Essential Manager server or both? thank you. 0 -
@Jack It would be required on both. TLS 1.2 registry entries are required for any server that would negotiate TLS 1.2 connections to external resources. 0 -
Greetings, I am having a similar issue but only with part of the site as I can see ESRI basemaps in my sites without issues however, export map to image or print map functions result into outputs missing selected / visible ESRI basemap(s). I can confirm that I have followed the instructions for enabling TLS 1.2 as per above mentioned URLs by Malcolm, can see the https maps in the sites, and I can add external ArcGIS Server https services with TLS1.2 enabled. Do you see similar experience in using Export Map as Image (Save map as image) or Print function producing outputs without showing https version of ESRI basemaps? Thanks in advance for your time and help. 0 -
Hi again, i just forgot to mention that I am working with Geocortex Essentials 4.10 with HTML5 Viewer 2.11.2 on Windows Server 2012 R2. 0 -
Hi Mohammad,
We had the same problem last week. We were able to view the Esri basemaps in our sites, but the basemaps were missing when users tried to print or export.
We were able to resolve the issue by editing the registry settings on the server that hosts our Geocortex sites just as described in Malcolm's links. It did require a reboot of the server for the changes to take effect.0 -
Hi @Mohammad
The export and print functions should work normally as long as you have implemented the required TLS 1.2 registry changes on every machine that connects to ArcGIS Online services. Note, as Stephanie pointed out, it would require a reboot of the server for the changes to take effect.
If you continue to see issues, please open a support ticket by emailing us at support@geocortex.com.

Thanks Stephanie and Gareth for confirmation. I will troubleshoot a bit more and then create a ticket if required. 0 -
Hi guys, just would like to share that the issue was related to network configurations for this server as our Web Security System was filtering the results for this particular URL. A change to the server network profile by our IT Department has fixed the issue for us. 0 -
Thanks for the update Mohammad! I was curious how that was breaking, it didn't quite match the TLS scenario I had in mind. 0 -
Hi Evans and my apology for checking late on your comment. In our case we have a forward proxy which was hindering things on top of the TLS1.2 scenario, so bypassing URL through proxy, allowing URLs with the network secuirty system and implementing the TLS changes, we were able to make it work. 0 -
Aha, that makes sense @Mohammad. Glad to hear you got it going. 0 -
We've recently upgraded from 4.7 to 4.12 and need to connect to https://services.arcgisonline.com - are the registry updates required for 4.12? Or does this apply to 5 - series only? 0 -
@Toshia Fleischaker you’ll want to add the keys to your install. They are required for all versions of Geocortex Essentials (4.x) that need to connect to services that require TLS 1.2. 0
