Layer Swatch Missing in Web?

How do we config Geocortex Web layer list to show the layer swatch for each layer? I can see the symbology in the Legend tab, but not the Layer tab.

    I'll save you the hunting ... it doesn't exist yet. There is hope in the Esri JavaScript 4.x API for this as they are supporting the programmatic generation of these swatches. This means if we ignore the use cases where it is really difficult (OGC layers) a solution is doable.

     

    We have intentionally been 'slow' to develop functionality around the TOC/layer list as this was complex to the point of being one of our top sources of bugs in GVH and we are wanting to add things carefully to avoid a similar outcome.

    Thanks Cam. On a similar note the ability for users to turn on more than one base map and also set transparencies seem to be lacking as well. Many users like the ability to turn on say 2 of the 5 available base maps and set transparencies as they see fit (imagery and land ownership for example). Seems like these all need to be pre-canned, designed by the app author. Additionally, base maps don't even show up in the layer list, just the legend.

    Is this functionality (swatches in layer list) on the roadmap? Is there an idea for it? (couldn't find it directly)

    Adding my interest for the ability to have swatches in layer list in the new web viewer. It seems like a really useful piece of functionality to include. Kind of like how you expect that in ArcPro/Desktop. Keeps one from having to toggle to the legend to see what you are looking at. Any update from ESRI on programmatic generate of the swatches?

    Marc Rempel Most of the layer types now provide a way to get a swatch. This has been raised several times recently with lots of stakeholders so we are moving in this direction. My current plan is to not show swatches for layer types that don't support it (often these are OCG layers).

    Oh, good to know. So how do I get a swatch to display for a web map with standard ESRI map service layers? Must have missed seeing a setting for it.

    Marc Rempel Didn't mean to confuse. The Esri APIs now support getting a swatch. We haven't done anything in our layer list yet around displaying them. That is what is still to come and growing in stakeholders and priority.

    Is there an update regarding this functionality?

    We are in the process of recreating our Geocortex sites in VertiGIS Web Studio, with the intention of going live at the end of June.  I am quietly hoping it will be added before we go live.

    I think logging a support request asking if you can added as a stakeholder for this request.

    And create an Idea  here on the forum referencing this thread, it seems there is no Idea yet.
