Event Listener - Use Case examples
Hi everyone,
I'm exploring the use of Event Listeners in VertiGIS Studio Web and would love to see how others are using them in real-world apps.
What events are you listening for, and what actions or workflows are you triggering? Have you found any particularly useful integrations or use cases that improved your user experience?
Examples, screenshots, or high-level architecture explanations would all be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences 😊

Hi Amanda, I've used the Listening Events to activate the timeslider for our histroic mapping. Listening for folder visiblity change and passing the folder name to a workflow that controls the visibility of the timeslider. If the folder is checked it turns on the timeslider, and turned off again when the folder is unchecked. Simple but stops users from having to find the button to turn the timeslider on.

We have used:
- edit.feature-added to launch a custom workflow to update an associated oracle table through a server workflow
- map.initialized to launch a workflow for startup events, like handling passed in URL parameters
- workflow.workflow-error to report back to a server log (and email) when a workflow runs into issues
- map.viewpoint-changed to keep track of the current map extent, then saved in memory, then applied when the viewer is opened a few hours/days later.
I have also used Publish Event Activity to invoke a custom event that then calls another workflow. However, I now forgot why I didn't just call the other workflow directly.
