AI Q-and-A from the 2026-06-04 VertGIS Studio Road Ahead Webinar
Q: Will the AI Assistant be available in the Studio tools for Workflow, Printing, and Reporting?
A: Yes, we plan to continue to build tools in other Studio products.
Q: Will there eventually be an AI assistant put into Workflow to help with building workflows with e correct activities and commands?
A: This is a great suggestion. A very practical application of work already done as many customers struggle to format Studio Web commands correctly in the Run Command activity.
Q: Are there any plans to integrate an AI-driven interface for users?
A: Yes, but so far the most valuable ideas we've researched focus more on those building applications.
Q: What if any organizational information is being sent out when using the AI assistant or is it entirely located on prem?
A: We are hosting the AI agent interface in our Studio SaaS environment. For this first feature, only the command chain configuration is being sent. This does not contain any of your organizational information or data. Furthermore it is a transactional interface built around request-response, no information is kept beyond the session. These and other considerations are well covered in the Responsible Use of AI in VertiGIS Studio statement; check it out!
Q: Can the AI Command Assistant's provider be configured, Copilot, local models, etc., or if not, the Command Assistant be disabled?
A: The AI provider is not configurable. VertiGIS tested many LLMs to find the model that would give you the best results. The LLM interface is hosted by VertiGIS in our Studio SaaS environment. Yes, the AI assistant can be disabled.
Q: All related to AI, will come in different language as well
A: Great question. We haven't done much testing yet in other languages, we hope our international customers will give us feedback.
Q: Does VertiGIS have an MCP Server on its product roadmap, or do you have standard REST endpoints/SDK patterns optimised for LLM tool-calling that we can wrap a custom MCP server around?
A: Wherever possible, VertiGIS Studio is delivered as static content, there are no servers. There are a couple of exceptions to this pattern like Studio Workflow Server and Studio Analytics. This means that there aren't a lot of servers in the VertiGIS Studio product line sitting around waiting to receive an MCP request. The first several use cases we've identified where using AI would greatly help our users target areas of app creation that our customers found most difficult. We may get to an MCP interface in the future. We will be ensuring you can easily use Esri's AI tooling that is currently in Beta in the Maps SDK for JavaScript and the MCP services that are coming soon to ArcGIS Enterprise.
Q: Are the AI answers based on the Designer Version you are using or is it always going to use the latest version in its answers?
A: Currently it would always use the latest version and the full set of published commands and operations to build its answer.

Thanks for your response, Cam. I'm keen to see the AI assistant features you'll integrate into the workflow designer.
