Now Available: VertiGIS Studio Web 5.36
This release of VertiGIS Studio Web delivers powerful new capabilities for administrators and endusers, with major enhancements to Layer Presets and layout editing. Version 5.36 introduces layer-level filtering within presets, drag-and-drop component management in the App Designer, and new tools for resetting layer styles and filters, giving you more granular control and a more intuitive configuration experience.
New Features
- Layer Presets have been extended to support the inclusion of layer-level filtering using query definitions. This allows administrators to create more granular and use-case specific presets that automatically apply filters when activated.
- The App Designer now supports importing single or multiple Layer Preset profiles from Studio Desktop into Studio Web. This streamlines the reuse of existing configurations, especially for complex scenarios involving numerous active Query Definitions, ensuring consistency across platforms.
- We’ve introduced new commands and tools—Reset All Filters, Reset All Symbols, Reset Filter, and Reset Symbol—that allow users to easily revert layer appearance and behavior to their default state as defined in the web map.
- A new
layers.visibility-changed
event has been implemented, enabling applications to listen for and react to changes in layer visibility. This allows for dynamic workflows based on user interaction with the layer list. - Identify functionality is now supported on raster map service layers.
- Environment Values can now be applied to report templates in the App Designer, allowing for dynamic configuration of report content based on the deployment environment.
- A new option to lock the print scale has been added to the printing component. When activated, the printing extent remains fixed while the map can be zoomed and panned freely, making it easier to check layer visibility at the final print scale.
- The error message that appears when a printout fails now reliably includes a link to download the log file, making it easier to diagnose and troubleshoot issues.
Behavioral Changes and UX Improvements
- We’ve enabled repositioning of existing components using drag-and-drop interaction in the App Designer. This enhances the layout editing capabilities for a faster and more user-friendly experience when the "Enable selection of components" mode is active.
- The user experience for Studio Printing has been improved by collapsing the "Layout Fields" and "Advanced Options" sections by default for a cleaner UI, while still allowing them to be expanded for detailed settings.
- Distinct icons are now displayed in the App Designer when adding printing layouts versus layout packages, making it easier to distinguish between the two types.
- The default language string for the Repeat Action function has been improved to provide enhanced clarity and make the tool's behavior more intuitive.
Technology Enhancements
- VertiGIS Studio Web has been updated to use version 4.32 of the ArcGIS Maps SDK for JavaScript.
- We’ve completed our annual third-party security penetration test and addressed all reported issues to ensure ongoing platform security.
- Studio Web has been updated to integrate with VertiGIS Studio Workflow 5.45.
- The Studio Search API version has been increased to 1.12.0.
- SDK support has been enhanced to allow custom layer extensions to integrate with the identify, search, and query mechanisms, enabling developers to ensure their custom features appear in results.
Bug Fixes
This release includes numerous fixes that improve stability, performance, and usability across the platform. Key issues addressed include intermittent problems with datalinks and attribute expressions, workflow behavior involving the Geometry Picker, and inconsistencies when loading saved projects with subtype group layers. We have also resolved problems with the Query tool when used with joined layers, improved the reliability of the post-installer on Windows Server 2019, and fixed various UI display issues in toolbars and dialogs. Additionally, several bugs affecting the stability of the App Designer have been corrected.
