I am very surprised that WFS services are not supported in VSWeb. WFS services can apparently only be used in combination with the appropriate WMS service. However, as the restrictions and requirements for this are very tight, it is hard to find corresponding services from public sources. WFS services alone cannot be added.
Of course, our customers also want to be able to call up information about the features and not just see a map, for which often not even a legend is available with public WMS services. So these services are completely useless for us, although thanks to the inspire directive there is now a lot of interesting published data available as a WFS service.

This surprises me, because the VertiGIS Studio Web help page still says that it is not supported. When I try to integrate WFS services into my maps, I only get error messages.

I'll go through those docs pages and make sure they are up to date, thanks for pointing that out.
Esri has placed some restrictions on WFS support.
In general, if you can add it and it shows up in Esri's Map Viewer, then it will also work in VSW.
From Esri's JavaScript docs. Minimum Requirements “To work with the

I can tell you that we worked closely with several of our regional partners where WFS services are commonly used and they provided us with about two dozen WFS services to test with … all these WFS services tested with worked well.
