Adding custom basemap

I'm trying to add a WMTS layer from our enterprise environment to an app as a custom basemap. I can select the layer I want, but it seems to get stuck on "Loading configuration..."

Does this process take a long time, or are there any requirements for a layer to be added as a custom basemap?
