Adding in Layers - which auto highlight and select

Hello again. I was wondering whether anyone could please advise or help? I am having some limited success with adding in layers and configuring them so they auto highlight (cyan). Some of my layers do and some don't although I do not seem to have configured them any differently. (This could me not fully understanding the process!) In the summary report - I am not able to auto zoom to the selected layers, (although they do appear in the summary report). I would be grateful for any advice and if anyone could guide me this process. I have looked at configuring the layers both in the MXD and in the Advanced View but neither seems to make any difference. Kind Regards

  Hi Wendy,   If you have some layers that won't highlight, identify, or select, please ensure that the OBJECTID and SHAPE fields are available to the ADF.   In your MXD, get the layer properties, go to the Field tabs, and make sure the checkbox beside the SHAPE and OBJECTID is checked.   Sometimes the fields aren't named SHAPE or OBJECTID - we need the fields that are of type "Object ID" and "Polygon", "Point", "Line" (etc).   Regards, -Malcolm
