    Yes, if you use the Layer Manager, the layer will be auto-assigned an ID. However, you can also use Advanced View, or simply edit the site.xml directly to change this to whatever you want. Using either method, look for the LayerResourceManager section – here you will find all of the configuration associated with your layers and their associated IDs.

    Subject: Layer(Service) ID, can I set this in Essentials Manager

     

    I am looking through Essentials Manager and do not see any way that I can put a string id for the Layer name in the ESRI Map.  It looks like iyt auto-assigns a number (as a string) as the Layer ID.  If I am accessing the Map programatically and want to get a specific Layer I want to have a name I could use to do this.  Having some auto-assigned number which could change if the Site is changed seems a bit scary.

     

    Can someone explain to me how I would do this, and if it is not possible than I think this is an issue that should be addressed

    What do you mean with the advance view ?? and how to edit it ?
