map service index in workflow designer - how to

hi folks!

How do I find the map rest service index number? or do I really even need it?  the layer index is fairly obvious.  Also I wanted to use the geocortex sample servers to do testing of my workflows, so if I had problem, it would be with my workflow not with the services.  It is giving me a (407) proxy authentication error.

 

Any help would be appreciated.

  Jeff,

  You can find the map service ID by browsing to the map service in the Essentials REST API. For example this map service's ID is "0"

  • http://sampleserver1.geocortex.com/geocortex/essentials/rest/sites/CharlotteArcGISOnline/map/mapservices/0

  Depending on the activity you are using and what you are trying to do you may not need it.

  • Refresh Map - it is only required if you want to refresh a specific service (otherwise it refreshes them all)
  • Select Features - it is required if you want to link your features to a particular layer

  Just to understand better, you use the index of the map service in the geocortex rest services, not in the arcgis rest services, so in my case the service I loaded has an index of 3  and a layer index of 0.  I think i can do that.
