Geocortex Viewer for HTML5 v1.0: Now Available *
The Latitude Geographics team is pleased to announce the general availability of the new Geocortex Viewer for HTML5 .
This new 1.0 release serves different slightly use cases than our feature-rich web mapping/GIS viewers based on Silverlight and Flex, focusing (for now) as a complementary viewer providing simple, targeted web-mapping applications for desktop browsers, tablets, and a broad array of mobile devices. It delivers web-mapping applications and sophisticated workflows without requiring a native app or plug-in, which makes sense for many types of mobile apps.
The framework of the Geocortex Viewer for HTML5 is modeled after our Geocortex Viewer for Silverlight (named commands and events, shells, regions, and views, and configuration), and includes a Viewer Template Engine configuration file. Workflows you’ve previously created should just work. Version 1.0 is still largely an infrastructure release geared towards workflow-driven mobile apps; our development team has an aggressive R&D scheduled for the remainder of 2012.
Installers and documentation for this Geocortex Viewer for HTML5 version 1.0 release are available from the (http://support.geocortex.com/downloads) Downloads section of the Geocortex Support Center. The download includes a thorough documentation set along with code samples, providing developers with the tools to learn about using the SDK. We have also developed a (http://www.geocortex.com/events-training/training/) half-day training course ; the first is scheduled for May 2nd.
Please feel free to provide questions and comments to our Javascript API and Geocortex Viewer for HTML5 (http://support.geocortex.com/Forums/ForumView.aspx?pageid=0&mid=2&ItemID=9) Forum Page for community discussion.
