Site Security and Editing
Hello,
Is there a way to enable security for a site so that certain users have editing permissions to the data within the site while others only view the data? Also, can you specify which data layers can be edited by specific users?
E.g. User 1 can only view all data in the site, User 2 can view all data in the site and edit data layer 1, User 3 can view all data in the site and edit data layer 2, and so on.
Any ideas on how to implement site security are appreciated. I'm interested in learning how others structure their security.
Thanks,
Sharon

Hi Sharon,
Did you ever get an answer to your question? I would also be interested in limiting the editing abilities for certain users. Thanks,

Hi Sharon,
The security model current applies to the whole application; you cannot limit what users do in the viewer once they have logged in.
A future release of Geocortex Essentials will have some enhanced security. Watch the recent (Oct 9, 2012) (http://support.geocortex.com/geocortex-solutions-for-arcgis-server-current-status-and-the-road-ahead) Road Ahead webinar to see what's coming.
regards,
Edmond

If anyone is still listening to this thread, I'm interested in doing the same thing at 4.1. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Essentials 4.8 and I still don't see how this can be done. Anyone know? 0 -
You can assign permissions to individual users and/or individiual layers. You can give the view-only users access to the map service and the editors access to the feature service. 0
