Image Service - display individual year from stack
We are using Essentials 3.8.0 and the Silverlight viewer 1.5. I have an image service that is a composite stack of multiple years (1998-2010). I would like to be able to add the individual years from the image service and have them display in the map without creating individual image services for each year--in other words, I want to be able to query the service so that the selected year is displayed in my viewer.
I've looked at the Site configuration in Essentials and don't see a way to add the individual years with a query as separate services or map layers.
I've experimented with creating a workflow to handle this, but the workflow querying tools appear to be focused on returning features rather than image results.
Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If you get an answer I'd be very interested to hear.
Of course you can do this type of stuff through REST and you may have to write a module. Not interested in modules here.
Workflows somehow?

With workflows you can apply a definition query to a layer. I'm not sure how that would work with an image service layer. Maybe that would work.
Have you had any issues with your image services data displaying in geocortex rest?

Did anyone ever find a solution to this problem?

I have all my aerials in one service - from 2000, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010, etc.
I add the service mulitple times and remove all but one of the years.
This way, when set to BASE (not operational), each aerial can be turned off and on individually.

Thanks, but are you doing this is a Map Service or Image Service? I've published an Image Service from a mosaiced dataset (actually mosaic of mosaics) which contains multiple years of imagery (NAIP) stacked. When I load the Image Service into the GE Manager it doesn't give me the option to remove "layers".

Hi Steve, not sure if you've solved the issue. I was trying to do exactly the same thing as you mentioned by using Layer Filter Workflow but seems it doesn't work with Image Service, but does work with other dynamic map service layers.
I believe what Cathy said is to create map service that includes all the individual mosaics as individual layers, in this way it's possible to add the map service multiple times in GE and remove unwanted raster layers, which works great. However, still be keen to see the Layer Filter workflow can be used on Image service.
cheers,
Jack
