Can't Upgrade Instance with 3.10
I am currently trying to upgrade my test environment from 3.9 to 3.10 however when I go into options and try to select the instance I want to upgrade I cannot check the radio button to select the existing instance. The only option available is to install a new instance. I have never had this issue in the past and I did not see any changes in the install procedure documentation. I am running Windows Server 2008 R2 and ArcGIS Server 10.0 SP3.

I'm having the same problem. We were able to upgrade our default instance by just clicking through the initial screen of the install wizard, but when I try to upgrade named instances through the options screen, the radio button is grayed out. I tried running the installer as an admin but had the same result. Our environment is similar: Windows Server 2008 R2 and ArcGIS Server 10.0 SP3 (installed on a different server).

Hi guys,
I've verified this and am filing a bug against the installer. Hopefully we can have it resolved quickly!

Hi Nick and Matt,
We've corrected the issue and updated the installer on the downloads page. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hi Ryan,
When did you drop this in & have you kept its as the 3.10 release?

The installer was updated August 12th at 22:15 PDT. We've kept it as the 3.10 release because this change only affects the installer's behavior. The content that it installs is identical.

Hi Ryan,
I'm still getting the same behavior with the current version (downloaded this morning). I think I'm still downloading the older version, because the file sizes are the same (93,218 KB).

I had the issue previously and downloaded the new version and I was able to upgrade my existing instances.

Did you have to run it as an administrator or anything special?
If I run the 3.9 installer in the same way, it works fine, but the 3.10 installer still has the update radio button grayed out.

I don't believe I had that option for an msi file but I am an admin on the machine.

Hi Matt,
You shouldn't need to do anything special. The file sizes are actually the same so you won't be able to tell by the number of bytes.
- Using a tool like WinMerge you can see if the bytes of files are actually identical.
- If you view the Message Digest of the Digital Signature of the file it will be different.
I would recommend you just try to download it again. It may have been a browser cache issue.

I downloaded it again after clearing my browser cache, and it still gives me the same issue.
I had already run the original version once to upgrade the default instance -- could that have messed something up and caused the new installer not to recognize the old instances?

Just as an update -- Malcolm helped me solve this in a remote session yesterday. It turns out Windows had cached the older version of the installer in the C:\Windows\Installer directory and was still referencing that.
Thanks!
