Layer Field issues
Hello all,
I am having problems trying to modify the fields in my layers.
1. I cannot seem to do any sort of Field 'Exclusion' to limit the fields exposed to the client.
2. I cannot specify whether a specific field is available to be used in the global searches.
3. I cannot specific a field to be used as the Feature Label. I can see the fields listed in the drop-down but cannot insert them into the Feature Label text box. I can type in the {fieldname} so that it works but I get a message in that dialog saying the format is incorrect.
4. I cannot edit layer hyperlinks and have the field names get inserted from the drop-down.
I am sure there are other things that I cannot do dealing with fields, etc but I haven't gotten to that point yet. Field values, etc are available using the Identify tool and any reports that I have generated.
Is there a common cause for all of this? All my data resides in SDE SQL Server 2008 v.9.3.1. I am using ArcGIS Server 10.1 and Geocortex Essentials 3.9. The specific layer that I want to do all this stuff for is parcels which was brought in from a mapservice on my local ArcGIS Server install on the same server as my Geocortex install. The mapservice capabilities are the standard Mapping and KML options and nothing is cached.
I will admit that my parcel fields are aliased inside of my mapservice's source MXD document and that those alias names do show up in the various drop-downs. Could that be an issue?
Thanks

I believe when using alias names in your mxd you will still need to use the actual column when configuring a layer in essentials. Also did you setup your fields in essentials when you add your columns you can exclude which ones you want end users to see and also setup alias there. I used to keep alias in the mxd but I did have problems with so I now just setup alias names in the manager for each layer if needed.

Hello all,
I am still having problems with the lack of ability to choose the field names from the drop-down boxes for certain actions (ie trying to modify the 'Feature Label' attribute for a layer under the Map configuration section. Basically, any time I can choose to specify a field via drop-down I am unable to Insert the name.
I had originally thought that the use of aliases in my MXD was a potential cause but I made a very simple 2-layer MXD with no aliases from scratch and the problems still occur. The ArcGIS Server 10.1 install is on the same box as the Geocortex Essentials 3.10 install so no outside calls are made except for the data in SQL Server SDE (9.3.1) that resides on a data server.
Is no one else having this problem? This was a brand-new virtual server (Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard, SP1) with new installs so there is no residual configurations from past upgrades to potentially give me problems.
Is there a way to edit the config file to manually type in the changes I want to do (ie specifying the fields that I want to be made available to globally search on, remove certain fields from being shown during Identify, etc)? Any help or suggestions would be helpful.
Thanks

I finally figured out that my issues with drop-down boxes, etc did not have anything to do with Geocortex Essentials. My installation of Internet Explorer 9 (9.0.8112.16421) was not allowing me to choose from the drop-downs. I tried it with Google Chrome and it works fine.
Thanks
