Identify on Added Layers
We have a map service that I have created and brought into our viewer using the Add Map Layer tool in the Silverlight viewer. The layer comes in symbolised correctly, however I cannot perform an identify on any of the features. According to the documentation it should support Identify and Query?
I've tried playing around with the different options when publishing the service such as Feature Access, WMS, WFS but nothing works?
Does anyone have any tips or suggestions on what I could be doing wrong?
We're currently running GXE 3.8 and Silverlight 1.4.
Thanks

Neil,
did you get any feedback on this one?
I've got users (and me!) asking why they can't identify some services added, and yet some they can!
As for supporting searching - where is this stated? I'm finding that there is no support for searching on the added layers/services
using 3.11/1.7
any thoughts welcome.

Hi Gareth,
no I haven't heard anything. I've just had a look at the Silverlight admin guide (we're actually running v1.5) and on page 63 under Add User Layers it mentions:
Newly added layers become visible in the Map Layer list and support operations like Identify and Search depending on the capabilities of the map service.
So my question was really around how do I configure the capabilities of the services we publish to allow this? I think I read in the release notes for the latest release that added Shapefiles / CSV is able to be searched / queried / filtered so I would hope that added services would be similar.
Because of our quite strict change control we won't be able to update the main application quickly if a user wants a new layer so being able to manually add them is great. However if all it does is bring in the symbology its a bit useless.
regards
Neil
