Report on tabular data not related to any layer

I need to build a report that returns data from a table that is not related to any map layer or spatial data.  What is the best way to do this?  It seems like building a workflow that runs a report would be a good approach but I'm not sure how to go about creating a report in the workflow that is tied to a data table in the ArcGIS Server map service and not a geocortex map layer. 

Does anyone have an example of this kind of workflow?   or a better idea how to build this report?

  Hi Tim,

  Take a look at this sample from the Code Gallery: https://support.geocortex.com/using-the-template-report-activity

  This workflow uses a feature set returned from a query to create a data table which is passed to the report. If you publish your non-spatial data alongside your map service, you can query the Rest Endpoint as in this sample.

  In a follow up to this, we're having issues to not simply run a report on a non patial record. We're putting the table data into the service and acessing throug the Rest service. The tables are in the Geocortex site. If we do a workflow with a query on the table and select results, we are able to easily run the report (as assigned in Essentials to the table) like any normal report from a layer. The Report Activity in Workflow Designer does not allow this for some reason, I guess a geometry is required? I've taken a look at the sample workflow for the Report Template. This seems like it would work fine but seems to be extremely tideous to get this functionality to work. We're starting to build many workflows utilizing other applications with field inspections with numerous clients, so the ability to get these reports out quickly and effectively is a must.
