Is anyone using Geocortex Essentials happily in a Citrix environment?

  Some of our sites are served up  via citrix for field crews who are using iPad's so they can run the silveright viewer. It does cause a performance hit based on what I have seen but it works for now until we can get an html5 app built. As far as running manager via citirix I have not tried it since it really is not needed in my environment but I don't see why it wouldn't work.

  Running the Silverlight Viewer through a Citrix remote session (or any remote session from any vendor) will cause a performance hit. This is because the Silverlight plugin normally uses the graphics card attached to your workstation to render smooth animations, and running it remotely forces it to use the CPU on the server instead. Your server CPU is not nearly as good at rendering graphics as even the cheapest graphics card, and this causes a performance hit.

  Whether this is acceptable or not will probably depend on the remoting software used, the complexity of your maps, and your network speed.

  Note also that this only applies to the Silverlight Viewer. REST Manager and the HTML5 viewer are just 'regular' web pages, which means that they are probably using CPU graphics rendering no matter where they are running. So any performance hit from running them remotely will be minimal.

  Hi Jon&Nick,

  Thanks for the valuable points regarding the performance drop.  Anyways, I am trying to implement our Geocortex sites in the citrix environment.  Could you please guide me how we can enable the Single Sign On mechanism for Geocortex Sites.

  Hi John, we are currently investigating options to deploy Geocortex html5 via a mobile Citrix viewer. We hope to utilise XenMobile or Worx Mobile apps. How did you progress with your research and implementation?
