    Dan,

It looks like this machine is extra stubborn with caching given the version in 1.6.0.433 in your error message. I had a similar problem with the 3.10.1/1.6 upgrade a few weeks ago on one machine.  After some investigation, I found that despite all efforts, the .xap files were not getting deleted.  I wound up manually searching for and deleting the .xap files from the cache directory.  Not ideal, but it did fix the problem.

    Hope that helps.

    Dave

Thanks Dave.  That seems to have worked.

I've run into this issue again with the latest viewer upgrade.  It would be nice if this issue could be corrected in with the next release?  There does seem to be solutions available.

I have run into this problem as well with 3.11.1/12 and SL1.7/8.It doesn't appear to effect urls launched from the defualt.settting.xml file just absolute path urls.

To quickly fix this problem, I used ccleaner and a PC restart to get the viewer to work on our physical machines. Its particularly problematic with Win7, IE 9. Hopefully Latitude will get a release out soon.

    Cheers

My concern is that users are not able to load the viewer and then just give up.  The problem goes unreported and they assume the system just doesn't work.

That looks like an interesting technique in that link. We'll certainly take this under consideration, but I can't promise anything right now.

In the meantime, it is also possible to fix these issues by using a redirect in IIS from the static URL you give to users to the actual location of the Silverlight viewer. This technique is fairly simple to set up, requires minimal attention with each new release, and should result in zero downtime and disruption if applied correctly:

Thanks.  I'll see if I can get that to work with my configuration.

My configuration is a bit more complicated.  I have multiple virtual directories for different viewer configurations (internal, public, editor, mobile).  Does it make sense to just use a HTTP Cache-Control Expires header?
