Query Tool: Limit searchable layers and attributes

With the default query tool provided in geocortex essentials, is there a way to limit the layers which are available for query and the attribute that are searchable.  I know that the attributes are limited to the ones that are visible, however I was hoping to customise this further, as not all visible attributes are useful for query.

  Allow Query Operations is a setting you can check or uncheck by layer on the Details Tab for your map layer properties. However, you can't choose which visible layers are queryable. The workaround would be to add the map layer a second time, set it to be queryable, and only make the fields visible you want your users to query. That way they interact with one version of  layer for viewing and identifying and another version just for querying (don't add that version to your layer list so it's only used by the query tools).
