URL to Extent of Map Service

Hi I need to generate a URL to the extent of a map service to use as a link in different areas of a master site. How do I go about creating this link?

  The admin guide has a Viewer Launch URL section that explains how to do this and gives examples.

   

  I will sometimes find set up the extent I want in the viewer, then use one of the Share tools, like Twitter, to create the appropriate URL for the extent.
