Adding secure service connection

Hello! I am unable to add a secure service connection in Essentials. I am using the web adaptor with web adaptor authentication. I am able to access the services rest endpoint from a browser. I can use the the non secure (http) url fine in essentials. I am running arcserver 10.3 and essentials 4.4. Any pointers? Thanks!

    Just to clarify - did you you set up your ArcGIS server to use web tier authentication using Windows Authentication for both users and roles?  I think that's what you mean by web adaptor authentication but just want to be sure.

     

    When you access the REST endpoint directly the browser (IE, Chrome, Safari) will pass your domain credentials automatically (if using Firefox, you get prompted to enter credentials) and you see the secure content.   When you tried to add the service in Essentials Manager, did you provide a domain username/password ?  What error(s) did you get when you tested the connection?  Did you look in your web server logs to see if the connection to the service was made, and if so, were credentials passed?

     

    Need more info on your exact set up and steps followed to give more specific help.

    Thank you for responding! Yes I have set up ArcGIS server to use web tier authentication since our organization uses Active Directory and I would like to take advantage of the existing users and roles. We use CAC (Common Access Card) authentication and when I visit the secure Rest endpoint I am prompted for my certificate and it logs me in, showing my domain\username in the upper right hand corner as logged in. I didn't provide a username and password when adding the service in Essentials because I was under the impression that it would use the Windows Authentication to sign in automatically. The only error I get is "Connection Failed".

     

    If I do provide a domain username/password, does that domain user need to be given special permissions? I know with Arcserver 10.0 I would just add the users to the AGSadmin group. I am not sure where to add those users now with Arcserver 10.3.1.

    Anybody else? I still have not figured this out. It seems as though Essentials is not recognizing the web adaptor address. I have to put in the port regardless if im using SSL or not. Ideally I want to use SSL.
