Map service changes affecting viewer layer drawing
I published a map service containing 4 layers , created a new site, added the single dynamic map service, and created a new viewer. Everything works as I expect it to. I then added a 5th layer to my .mxd and republished the service. When I open/refresh my site I do not get any errors or exclamation marks indicating changes. Now when I open the viewer my taxlot layer (black polys) is actually drawing the new contour layer (orange lines), though the layer in my list is still listed as taxlots. The viewer stil lists the original 4 layers.
I have not yet editied the Map Service > Add/Remove layer properties in manager. My original 4 layers are listed as included with the new contour layer still listed as excluded. It appears the layer ID index chagnes in the map servcie affected my viewer. Unless I'm using feature layers which reference the layer index IDs in the URL, I thought editing the service as I have above was not suppose to affect the layers in geocortex.
Is my uderstanding correct or not? Am I experiencing a bug? I'm on GE 4.4.3 and GVH 2.5.2
Thanks,
Lee

Hello Lee,
This is a long-standing feature request for the site to automatically update with changes made to the map service. You are correct in that you'll need to add the layer from the 'Include layers and map services' dialog.
I would suggest that after making changes to a service and republishing them, that you should re-add the map service, to avoid issues with ID conflicts.

I find that if I add a new layer to a service, then I often have to hit what is now the Reset button on the Layer List (used to be under Map Services tab). This will cause an issue if you have moved layers around, etc. and after resetting, you will need to redo any of this stuff. I would save your Site.xml prior to doing this in case it does more than you want it to... 0
