Geocortex Help Center - Concept Design
We are in the early phases of developing a site-based Help Center for Geocortex. This is intended to provide help topics specific to the usage of a site rather than the Viewer-based Help System we believe that LG is developing for Geocortex Viewer for HTML5. This Help Center is based on an integration of Iridize (https://www.iridize.com/) that LG had during the 2.6 beta. We looked at what Iridize did and several other systems and came up with our own that we believe serves the Geocortex environment better (at least based on input from our various users and clients). We would like to get input from other Geocortex administrators, here is a quick proof-of-concept/early demo video we put together.

The Geocortex Help Center will have three (3) sections and the following functionality:
- Common Questions (aka Frequently Asked Questions)
- This will allow administrators to add frequently asked questions to the site
- The Answer section will allow for responses in Plain Text, Markdown, and limited HTML (e.g. no JavaScript). The questions currently are only Plain Text.
- Users will be able to search or filter through the questions. The demo currently only searches, we will be adding the option to filter.
- Videos
- Videos from YouTube and Vimeo can be added.
- We are still working on the UI of this section.
- Tours
- Guide Tours will be available to Administrators to configure.
- Tours will advance using Next/Previous buttons or OnClick events initially.
- Progress bar/bullets will display Tour Step Title and allow users to jump/skip to later in the tour.
- General Functionality
- The Help Center is movable and resizable. It can also be closed and has a Geocortex EventCommand to open it.
- All sections are configured using JSON files that reside in the site.
- Currently, JSON files need to be manually configured, but we do plan to add a browser-based Editor.
Thanks for your time and any input you may have!

Our experience is that short videos demonstrating functionality is greatly appreciated by users. We've been doing that with vimeo for sometime. Having it integrated into the applications is worthwhile. 0 -
Thank Miles! We have found the same to be true. However, we are excited about some of our early tests with our Guided Tour functionality that will create an interactive tutorial for the users. We hope to have a public demo up in a couple weeks. 0
