"No result found" shown before data
This has long been a problem with the global search, but it is also a problem with the map tips. When I click a spot that has data, it will show "No results found" for quite a while (especially when the map shows a data intensive layer and it takes a whle to show the results). It can be 5-10 seconds before information appears. This is really misleading and makes a user think that there is no data there when tehre clearly is. Why doesn't it show a searching/waiting icon, and only show no results found when the search is finished and it is confirmed that n data is there.

You can configure customSearchSuggestions in the Results module to change the default message (e.g. "No results" for a map tip) to a more meaningful message.See the viewer admin guide. 0 -
thank you, I'll check that out. Is it possible to have a custom message only while the search is being performed? I do want it to say No results found if there are actually no result found. I just want it to not say that while searching. 0 -
I checked this section of the manual and I don't see anything about being able to have a certain text while the search is being performed and another when results are not found. I don't want to change the text if results aren't found. I want it to say no results. But I only want it to say that if no results are actually found. Currently it shows that while it's searching. So you think there are no results while it it is still looking for data and then the data shows up. I don't understand this. The Identify works correctly (and like any other program in existence) where it shows an indication that it is looking for results. And then shows No results if nothing is there. Am I missing something obvious? I'm surprised this issue hasn't come up more. thanks! 0 -

No you are not missing something. You have the option of changing the message in the maptip to whatever you like but unfortunately, the maptip was not built to show a loading message like the Identify or Query tools. At this point, I would suggest adding this to our Ideas board so other people can vote on it. If enough people like it, then it will get implemented in a future release.

This also doesn't work very cleanly when using the global search. Unless I am missing something. If I change the custom "customSearchSuggestions": line to something like "Search": "Searching...", the results pane will show the "Searching..." text correctly, but when no results are found, that text will still be displayed. It would be nice to have the "Searching..." text displayed and then be changed to something like "No results found", like Rob mentioned, regardless if it is a map tip or a global search. 0
