Saved Project unable to pick up new layers added after it
Greetings,
We have a site that have the layer list/TOC change (added/removed/renamed) often. I'm wondering how or whether it will work with Save/Load Project? My understanding is the saved project won't be able to pick up the changes in the layer list made after the save right? So it's only OK to use the save/load project when the layer TOC is fixed and no longer changed? thanks

Hi Jack,
As you have discovered, the Save Project function is a snapshot in time, changing the viewer after the project is saved can potentially result in unpredictable results. If your layer list changes often then Save Projects may not be a suitable option for you.

Our solution with the Silverlight viewer has been to have a small number of fairly stable map services configured within our viewer and to allow users to add any additional layers they require through the Add Layer tool. These added layers can then be saved within the Project file if required.
We have found that this approach provides a compromise in terms of site maintenance and user customisation.
We haven't yet migrated to the HTML5 viewer, as I believe the Add Layer functionality is only available in the upcoming v2.7, but are hopeful that this approach will work for us when we do.0 -
Thanks Wyne. In our situation we save project just because we wan to save the markups and measurement drawn on the map. I'm thinking about write our own tool to allow user to save the markups and measurement in xml files, and alllow to upload the xml files to viewer to redraw the markups and measurement. is this possible and where I should start? 0
