Setting Map Scales for Essentials Site
We have our Essentials sites set up with Bing/Google scales. We are looking to change or set up a new site with our own defined scales. Can someone point us to the right direction to get started? Can we change the scales on an existing site? Do we have to have a cached map service to set scales for the essentials sites or can we do it without a cached map service? Any help is appreciated!

The HTML5 viewer will use the scales of the primary map service (the map service at the bottom of the list on the Map Services tab in Essentials). This is typically a tiled service and a basemap. You can create your own tiling scheme with your own scale levels and publish a map service to force the viewer to use your scales. If you go this route, you can only use tiled services in your site that match your custom tiling scheme. (We took the ESRI/Google/Bing scheme and added a couple levels).
You can also adjust minimum and maximum overrides when editing the Viewer in Essentials. This should allow you to zoom past the scale levels of the primary map service.
There is also a 'stepzoomfactor' in the Map module in the JSON files that lets you tweak the amount of zoom applied when going in/out.
There is more info on all of this in the admin guides, but I would just start messing with the settings and see what happens.0
