    Hi Ryan,

I tested https:// service endpoints, adding them to both a https:// enabled essentials/viewer and a http:// essentials/viewer through the Add Layers tool and wasn't able to replicate your issue.

There are a couple steps needed to set up a layer through the Add Layers tool. The first is to add the layer to your service connections in Essentials. When you add the layer you must allow the "Search In : Manager and Viewers" and the "Search for: Map Services and Layers" within the Service discovery section in manager. Once both those are set, you should be able to search and add the layers through the Add Layers tool.

Here is what the connection settings look like for my example https:// enabled layer:

If that is set up in a similar way, and is still failing, let me know. We might need to get a support case involved so we can get some more info and trouble-shoot the problem directly.

Ah, I see now. Thanks Cory. I didn't realize we had control over what they added, for better or worse.
