Simple Report with Map

I have created many workflows, but have not yet delved into reports.  I created a very simple report to start that I am accessing from MapTips. Can someone tell me what I need to add to have the map in the report show the selected feature.  Do I need a workflow to get the geometry for the map, or is there a way to do this without a workflow?

  You can add a map to your report by using a feature map.

   

  Step 1) Set up a feature map on your layer

  Step 2) Add a Map control to your report and rename the DataField property to match the name of your feature map
