Add links to ftp urls in feature descriptions

I am trying to add ftp urls from a feature attribute dynamically as a link in my feature description/maptip.  It seems that the viewer is stripping that url from the href attribute in my feature description... is this the case?  If so, what do I need to do in order to get these links working.  I don't think that I can even hardcode an ftp link in there... Is there some workaround that will let me get these links in there?

  Tom had the idea to use a link to a workflow that will use the OpenWebPage command on the ftp url which is itself passed as an input parameter.  It works!
