    Hi Scott,

You're correct in that the markers ("pushpins") use centroids and they do not necessarily remain inside the feature's polygon(s). This can lead to some oddly-placed pushpins for irregular or multi-part features. We have a feature improvement request filed for this internally, GVH-3709, and I will add you on as a stakeholder. You could also improve the issue's visibility by posting this to the Ideas section so that other users can vote for it.  This one is a tricky case to deal with though because the operation of calculating the pushpin locations more carefully might slow down the search process.

If you would like to remove the pushpins alltogether, this can be done from the management pack for the Viewer for HTML5. In the "Pushpins" section, uncheck the "Enabled" checkbox.  In the latest "Road Ahead" video (https://support.geocortex.com/essentialsGSCVideo?sub-nav=videos&main-nav=essentials&feedtype=SINGLE_ARTICLE_DETAIL&dc=Geocortex_Essentials_vid&id=kA560000000Kz86) it was mentioned that we are planning to improve the results list so that when you hover over a search result the corresponding feature will be highlighted on the map. This could make search results without pushpins a lot more attractive in the future.

    I hope this helps!
