HTML5 Viewer 2.7.1 - hyperlink to PDF not working
We upgraded to 4.6.2 ( from 4.6.1) which upgraded HTML5 Viewer to 2.7.1 . Just discovered the hyperlinking to a PDF on a file server is no longer working.
I am using a link like <a href="file://///server/Folder/SubFolder/{PDFname}">PDF Link</a> to create a hyperlink to a PDF file matching name stored in field "PDFname". This hyperlink is working fine in SLV Viewer 2.5.1 but seems is dead in HTML5 2.7.1. When hovering the mouse over the hyperlink, the IE status bar shows hyperlink as --> file://server/Folder/SubFolder/filename.pdf ( file name is correct).
Would help to know if anyone else is experiencing this issue.
Thanks in advance!

Hi Liviu,
Using local filepaths in hyperlinks was never fully supported with our software so that fact that it worked, I think was just a happy coincidence. However, if you do wish to continue referencing a local file and exposing that on your viewer, you can place your PDFs in the viewer's virtual directory like this:C:\Program Files (x86)\Latitude Geographics\Geocortex Essentials\Default\REST Elements\Sites\LA_County\Viewers\LA_County_HTML\VirtualDirectory\splash.jpg
Then you can use a URL like this to access it:
http://domain.com/Geocortex/Essentials/Default/REST/sites/LA_County/viewers/LA_County_HTML/virtualdirectory/splash.jpg
I hope this helps

Carmen,
Thanks for taking the time to reply. I am glad to see there is another way of solving this task. However, I wanted to confirm the hyperlinking to a local file path has been working for us for years. While not covered in the documentation, I was able to configure with help from support. The problem I was having was on a new server ( during testing - migrating to virtual server). I am glad to report hyperlinking is working on the new ( now live) GIS server . However, I've been playing with settings so much that I am not 100% sure it was a misspelled path or server settings or a combination of these two.
Thanks again!
