relationship query task in workflow

I have a number of search workflows that I would like to combine (there are at least 8), LGA search, property search, ID search etc. It is very cluttered for the user. I am trying to test instant search but the indexing is going very slow, it may be a suitable replacement but for now I would like to search the survey plan no of a feature and the results come up in all features that contain that number.

 

I was thinking I could do this using relationship query task as it would be possible to do this in arcmap through a spatial join. However I am pretty new to workflows and I cannot figure out what to put in the inputs. Does anyone have an example of how this task looks like in a workflow? is this the best solution for me?

  Hi Sylvia, 

   

  If you want to query the Survey Plan Number and have it return all the features that contain that number, then your best option would be to use Instant Search. It does take a time to create the indexing, but once that is done, it works very well and it does exactly what you are looking for. 

   

  If you are looking at the Relationship Query Task activity in a workflow to mimic the Instant Search function, then this activity may not be what you are looking for. If you have a feature layer A that is related to another layer B in the MXD and you publish that, then layer A will have a relationship (which you can verify at the Arc REST endpoint of the layer). You can then use the Relationship Query Task activity to query related features in layer B based on the relationship established with layer A. This is how you use this activity. An example of this activity is located in your Sample Sites folder. The file path looks like this: 

   

  C:\Program Files (x86)\Latitude Geographics\Geocortex Essentials\Default\REST Elements\Sample Sites\Workflow_Samples\Resources\Workflows\Conversion

  I did think instant search might be what we are after, but I am having trouble creating the index. It is stuck at 9% and won't go any further. Unfortunately my map service is on a really slow server of ours and it is the only one I can use for testing, so I am not sure what else to do. Neither can I upgrade my version of geocortex.

  I dont seem to have any workflows in sample_sites I only have one folder called LA_County

  thanks Carmen, I have version 4.3. Is it possible to get a copy of the sample workflows for myself and my coworkers? it would benefit us greatly. Otherwise, I am not sure how to upgrade as I don't manage geocortex installation.

  in particular I was after how to use the merge pdf task in a workflow, I was unable to find any reference to it (I am not a developer so it is pretty new to me)
