    Hi Walter,

I would use a tool like Fiddler to get more info on these error messages.  Access is denied might be an entry missing from the proxy page config file.  Until you see what the request was you won't know for sure and Fiddler should show this.  The same goes for the second error, it looks like an error from ArcGIS server.  You can confirm this using Fiddler and check the ArcGIS logs to see if additional details have been logged.

    Wayne,

First of all, I'm using the geometry service from the server that is hosing our map services. I am accessing the geometry services from a secured site, but the geometry service is unsecured.

Without making any changes to my site, I'm attempting to buffer a polygon from a shape file that has been uploaded to the viewer.

    Initially, I get this error:

    _img_ alt="User-added image" src="https://latitudegeo--c.na53.content.force.com/servlet/rtaImage?eid=90760000000CgI5&feoid=Body&refid=0EM600000001R2C" _/_img_

After this error appears, there are no entries made in Fiddler. It doesn't even hit the geometry service.

Then after more attempts, the buffers are made successfully, and I can see in Fiddler that it's hitting the geometry service.

    _img_ alt="User-added image" src="https://latitudegeo--c.na53.content.force.com/servlet/rtaImage?eid=90760000000CgI5&feoid=Body&refid=0EM600000001R2H" _/_img_

There is no indication from either the access/system log files either that my viewer has encountered a hurdle.

    Hi Walter,

If the geometry data that the viewer is sending to the geometry server is too large, the viewer will try and send it via the proxy page.  If the proxy page config file does not have an entry for your arcgis/geometry server in it, you will see a 403 error.  This may not be the cause in your case, it's one possibility.  It's odd that it will work after several tries.  I would check the developer tools - console page to see if any errors are listed.  If you don't see any clues there I would submit a support case so we can look into it further.

    Wayne,

I can send large and small polygons for buffering, when it's working. The attached image shows IE Dev tool results.

    Walter,

I would submit a support case for this.  It appears the ESRI API is throwing the error and not the browser.  It would be easier to look at over a screenshare.

    Thanks,

    Wayne,

We have purchased credits for support cases. So I will create one case.

It's odd that there are no other community postings regarding this issue. Am I the only one encountering this?

We are trying to do a similar thing where a user selects a boundary and I want to use that boundary to extract data from intersecting layers. How do you get the geometry of a feature selected in another workflow but is still in the results list?
